Rubin Blessing of Daughters

Signed and Numbered lithograph on canvas.

The Rubin Gallery presents a revival edition of Mortiz Oppenheim's "Blessing of the Daughters" painted by master artist, Yitzchak Chazin.

The Rubin Collection is presenting our master artist Mr. Yitzhak Chazin and his wife Nechama.
Yitzhak Chazin was born in Odessa, Russia in 1953. His grandfather was a well known scribe and an expert in illuminated manuscripts. His great grandfather compiled commentaries of the entire Tanach with illustrations...
Yitzhak continues this tradition... After graduating from the Grakov Academy of Art in Odessa his family immigrated to Israel in 1972.
Shortly thereafter, at an art show in Haifa in 1973 he met his wife
Nechama, also a graduate of the Grakov Academy and aspiring artist. Following Yitzhak’s service in the Israel armed forces in 1975,
Yitzhak and Nechama married.
Together, they rediscovered their Jewish roots immersing themselves in Torah study and traditional Jewish practices while raising a family. During those years the Chazins became increasingly influenced by the teachings and philosophy of the Chassidic Masters.
In 1980, Yitzhak turned his attention to Hebrew scribal calligraphy, while Nechama continued to develop her painting and graphic skills. This would become the focus of their career working as a team to develop and master techniques for painting applications on parchment utilizing a combination of media. Their combined talents in oil paintings, miniatures and calligraphy led to the production of unparalleled creations of contemporary Hebrew illuminated manuscripts. They have since introduced new art forms in their studio, merging them with earlier concepts. Currently they are producing a series of stained glass reliefs suitable for private or public collections.
Over time, the manuscripts they began to produce, meticulously designed and written, magnificently illustrated in the tradition of old European manuscripts proved to be a tribute to the great Hebrew manuscripts of the past. The texts, drawings and sketches, registered under Yizhak’s balanced hand. Rely on his training in the arts and scribal arts to support and compliment the earnest convictions of his images. Brilliant color compositions, exquisite embellishments and ornaments, vivid gold borders, are a result of Nechama’s persistent experimenting and eye for detail in the development of these masterpieces, covering a wide scope of Jewish subjects and not limited to one theme or style.
Some of these, include a large leather bound Haggadah totally illustrated in black ink drawings on vellum pages, reminiscent of the great Hebrew books of Amsterdam and Prague. Another, of similar dimensions, will have colored interpretations of the story of Passover, bringing to mind an 18th Century Manuscript from Copenhagen. While a third, painted in thickly applied earth tones, seems to have come directly from the brush of a 19th century landscape artist.
